The hook and I are becoming friends....slowly (along with perhaps the camera). We still have the occasional misunderstanding which is resolved with a quick undo and redo, so please don't look too closely at them :: I have made one mistake which I do plan to fix. But the friendship has worked to create triplet of hexagons (thanks to the brilliant Lucy @ Attic24 and her so simple hexagon tutorial). I also created a few little hearts from a pattern I found online somewhere (sorry it is now missing in the web). The hearts were a billion times more difficult than the hex's and I thought it would surely be the other way around.... I am really getting into this crocheting business now.

We went for a walk/bike ride today along the local tow path as the weather was gorgeous. Little J rode his bike and complained endlessly - he's not he bike riding type. We saw the 'Onion', the back end of Little J peddling furiously, a rather large loud train, and surprisingly dozens of turtles warming themselves in the sun balancing on branches in what's left of the canal. They aren't particularly cute turtles, but I was surprised to see how many there were - many had dived off the branch when they heard us coming. Then we stopped at the park for a few minutes to let Little J burn off more energy (secretly hoping for an early night after a tiring day)......a lovely first Sunday of Spring.....

Unfortunately I'm not talented with the camera, so the photos I continue to post aren't very good. Either that or Little J has been messing with it. I must have Mr. VW take a look at it. Anyway, a few months back I created a bag and appliqued a little bird on the front. I have since become obsessed with the bird :: the one up there in my header. So now he is going to be everywhere......

A couple of months ago I picked up my crochet hook for the first time in over 9 years. I don't know what type of stitch I knew how to do before, but it was pretty basic and I had made a couple of one color, plain square blankets. It was so easy to do I even taught Big J, now 16 then 6 how to crochet. Anyway, thanks to the inspiration of Ms. Lucy at Attic24 (if you haven't visited her blog, your really must it is simply amazing!) I decided to teach myself to 'granny square'. So after many hours in front of the computer, some colourful language and three temper tantrums later, I figured it out!!! Now the first square I made, is probably the largest granny square ever :: currently 4ft x 4ft. Even Mr. VW said, "Aren't you supposed to make a whole bunch and join them together?" Hmpff!!! I said. Of course you bl**dy well are, but the first row is so blinking hard I don't think I can do it again!!! I was wrong. I did it again. Then again. See, down there?
Both are of course still a work in progress :: as with most of my projects.
Here is another little project I just had to share. I love houses, especially old ones, I wonder how many stories they have to tell?
I hope you are inspired today.

I always feel like the first week after we "spring forward" an hour and change our clocks like someone stole an hour from me. It doesn't seem to matter that we have an extra hour of daylight and the days are getting warmer, for a week I reminded of the one hour I lost! A weekend hour at that!! I wonder why we can't spring forward say on a Friday say at 4pm? Or Wednesday at 10am? It would certainly make me and at least three people I know happpier..... Anyway, spring is on it's way. The Daff's are popping through in the front gardening and I am thinking about spring flowers.....like these from our garden this last year. Although this year, it seems they'll be in a different garden. :-\
I am off to "Granny Square" central, thanks to inspiration for Lucy at Attic24. Her granny squares are a colour inspiration!
Toodles.....Happy Weekend Lx

Still here...busy this last week and a half....after 20 some odd years and the ripe old age of 41 I am finally going to get my drivers license. I thought at my age I would be alone in this pursuit :: I was wrong. I read two blogs yesterday of people over the age of 30 who have only just achieved this goal. Anyway I have busy in the evening at drivers education class :: 10 days from 6pm to 8pm......tiring, but thank goodness we have a good teacher with an interesting sense of humour.
Here is what greated us on Sunday morning in gephart land....
